J. Arbuckle's general research area is the sociology of agriculture and the environment. Recent research has examined how institutional dissonance among organizational actors that strive to shape rural landscapes can impact the effectiveness of their agri-environmental programming. Related areas of interest include the social and environmental dimensions of biofuels production.
