Recommended: Please read the Review of MS#03-27. This series of letters shows an actual review of a manuscript submitted to Rural Sociology, the flagship journal of the Rural Sociological Society. Reading these letters will help you understand how the community of scholars reviews research reports.

Assignment

Complete these tasks for both articles in your topic area:

1. What were the limitations of the study?
2. In what ways did the researchers attempt to minimize the limitations of the study?
3. What types of data analysis were conducted in the study?
4. Were the hypotheses supported or not supported?
5. Evaluate the quality of technical report writing. Provide suggestions for improving the clarity of the manuscript.
