Economy, Organizations and Work

The central premise of the scholarship in this subject area is that economic activity is embedded in a societal milieu; influenced by cultural norms, values, and beliefs; and imbued with social meanings.  The concentration focus includes topics such as the political economy of capitalism, the sociology of markets, economic globalization and restructuring, occupations and work, complex organizations, and business social responsibility.
