Emory S. Bogardus Award

Emory Bogardus founded Alpha Kappa Delta, a sociology national honor society, in 1920 for the purposes of stimulating scholarship and promoting the scientific study of society. Bogardus’ impetus in establishing this organization was to provide a forum for student and faculty interchange. It has become an international organization dedicated to promoting, facilitating, and recognizing academic scholarship. In the past eight decades, over 80,000 scholars have been initiated into the Society. More than 490 chapters have been chartered in the United States, Canada, China, Finland, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Singapore.

 The ISU chapter (Gamma Chapter) of Alpha Kappa Delta established the Bogardus Award in 1974 to honor outstanding sociology faculty at ISU. The award is presented annually to the sociology faculty member students believe is most deserving based on the criteria of creativity in teaching and high standards of scholarship.

Requirements:
1. Faculty member.
2. Demonstrates excellence in teaching.

Submit:
A letter of nomination with supportive rationale.
